The Youth and Families team at Deafconnect is here to support families with deaf or hard of hearing children and young people across Northamptonshire. We extend a warm welcome to children and young people with Deaf parents, Tinnitus, or any other hearing conditions. Our experienced team offers comprehensive support and advocacy for both deaf and hearing parents, helping families navigate from birth up to 25 years old. This includes siblings, friends, and extended family, ensuring everyone has access to the resources they need.
When hearing loss is first diagnosed in children or young people, it can be an overwhelming experience for parents. Our mission is to empower families with the confidence and information needed to navigate this journey. We offer independent, confidential advice on available resources, including assistance with form filling. Our team is also ready to advocate on your behalf at school and other professional meetings, helping articulate your needs and ensuring your child or young person receives appropriate support.
We are dedicated to fostering independence and confidence in deaf children and young people. Through our range of activities, we provide safe and inclusive environments where they can explore and embrace their deaf identity. Our programmes include fun and accessible activities during school holidays and fortnightly youth clubs for juniors and seniors. These sessions are packed with crafts, games, sports, wellbeing sessions, and child-led activities that align with their interests and developmental goals.
Our Youth Club and holiday activities are more than just fun—they are opportunities for deaf children and young people to connect with peers in a safe, non-judgmental space. While all our staff and volunteers are skilled in British Sign Language, there's no pressure for participants to use BSL unless they wish to. Our team brings a wealth of experience in child development, wellbeing, and mental health, ensuring that every young person feels included and valued.
Join us at Deafconnect, where we’re not just building skills—we’re building a community where deaf children and young people can flourish. Let's make every moment count and celebrate the unique contributions of each individual. Reach out to us today and discover how we can support your family’s journey!
