At Deafconnect, our Personal Assistants (PAs) and Befrienders are the heartbeat of our community, dedicated to uplifting and empowering Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals. Our team is here to offer one-on-one support that goes beyond the basics—helping you build independence, hone life skills, and boost confidence as you engage with the world around you.
We proudly provide both Deaf BSL and Hearing BSL PAs and Befrienders, ensuring that your communication preferences are met with understanding and respect. This service, supported by Northampton Councils and social care, has been a cornerstone of our commitment to the community for years.
How to Apply for PA/Befriender Support: Ready to start your journey with a PA or Befriender? Simply complete our referral form and send it to us at Deafconnect. We'll arrange a personalised meeting with you—and your support network if needed—to discuss your unique needs and secure the funding required for these invaluable services. Our goal is to pair you with a PA or Befriender who aligns with your communication style, interests, and skills, creating a supportive partnership that truly makes a difference.
Please note that our PAs and Befrienders focus on empowering you through social support and daily activities; they are not trained to provide personal care like washing, bathing, or lifting. However, they can assist with minor mobility support, such as transitioning from a chair to a wheelchair.
Who Can Apply to Be a PA? We're looking for compassionate individuals to join our team as PAs. Whether you're an adult, family member, friend, or professional, if you have the heart for it, we encourage you to apply. All candidates must pass an enhanced DBS check to ensure the safety and well-being of those we serve.
Join us in making a meaningful impact, and let's build a more inclusive community together!
